Rodeo

17 Jul

My most abundant thanks to my dear friend Marcie for suggesting we go to the 70th annual Pikes Peak or Bust rodeo in town. I’m about due some pictures, so here goes. Β πŸ™‚

We got a parade to start us off.

P1040976

There was an event where two guys would ride out with a calf in the middle of them. One of them had to try and catch the cow and tie him down. (The other just helped steer the cow to help the first man catch it.)

My favourite horse πŸ™‚

P1040989

Both men had to help catch the cow this time. It had to end up between them, with their ropes taut and their horses facing one another. In the second pic they’ve got the cow down onΒ the ground.

P1050023

And what would a rodeo be without some bucking of course!?

P1040992

I must admit racing round the barrels was one of my favourites.

P1050071

The bull-riding was even more ferocious than the bucking broncos. (Read: in general, the guys didn’t last as long before getting bucked off.)

P1050096

Finale of fireworks… I couldn’t have asked for more! πŸ™‚
