…is more my level.”
Such was the verdict of one of today’s hill-walking contingent.
I must say, at just-now levels of tiredness, and dreading-tomorrows-pain that alternative prospect has quite a lot of appeal…
Well, you see, it was all that Anna’s fault. Despite a reasonable “Let’s meet for lunch and plan something from there” angle, she decided she was still after a challenge.
On reaching the obligatory board to tell you what colour your walk is (ours was blue), she made sure to hurry us along so that we wouldn’t see the recommended time-scale: “Allow 6 hours, minimum.” And this was us starting at around 3-ish… I guess it also went some way to explaining why we got frog-marched up the hill. Ok, maybe I’d agree with her, that the estimate was a little out… but even so, I think we did pretty good to get it behind us in 4h:15min.
Ach it was a pretty good way to invest a Saturday: delicious lunch to get us set up; plenty of fresh-air supplied; weather was well nigh perfect (the wind took the shortcut – right through me) but the sun was around, and there was nothing more than an odd drop or two of rain that you never even noticed if you weren’t paranoid 😛 ; fish supper was much needed, containing the full quota of grease and the pick-n-mix from the sweet shop was suitably tempting.
Oh, and getting to spend time with a bunch of pretty decent people: some new faces, some familiar faces that I have yet to get to know the people behind properly. So, all good!
One de-muddifying bath later I’m needing my bed methinks 🙂
